The Dexter Show at the National Western Stock Show took place on January 11th on the first official day of the Stock Show. The show was well attended, and the Dexters, in their second year at the NWSS, gathered a lot of attention. On both Saturday and Sunday, in the hospitality area, Dexter sliders were sampled out to hundreds! Every comment on the beef was positive in nature with many folks coming back for seconds or business cards. What a great way to introduce our Dexter beef.

The National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado will have a Dexter class again this year! . A nationally recognized western heritage and entertainment event, the stock show hosts one of the world’s richest regular season professional rodeos, one of the country’s largest horse shows and Colorado’s largest western trade show, attracting attendance numbers over 650,000 visitors each year. This year’s cattle show hosts nearly 20 breeds of cattle January 11-26, 2020.
The National Western Stock Show, established in 1906, is a premier livestock, rodeo, and horse show in the nation, serving agricultural producers and consumers throughout the world. It is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides education in agriculture, including college and graduate level scholarships in agriculture and veterinary medicine for practice in rural areas. Throughout this historic event, the National Western strives to strengthen American agriculture through enrichment programs and youth education in livestock, equestrian, farming, ranching, animal awareness and appreciation.

Last year was the first time Dexters had their own class at Denver. It looks like this year will be even bigger and better. The Dexters begin arriving at the stock yard on Tuesday, January 7, at 8 am and must be in place by Thursday, January 9, by noon. The show is Saturday, January 11 at 10:00 am. You can continue to see Dexters in the stock yard until Monday, January 13, when the last Dexters will be leaving.
